NHRC Takes Suo Motu Cognizance of Darbhanga School Roof Collapse Incident
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India has taken suo motu cognizance of a report regarding the unsafe conditions at a Government Primary School in Kiratpur, Darbhanga, Bihar. The school's roof, which collapsed three to four months ago, is currently being propped up by benches, desks, and bricks, endangering the safety of approximately 191 students and staff. The NHRC has issued a notice to the Darbhanga District Magistrate, requesting a detailed report on the situation within two weeks. The Commission highlighted that if the report's claims are accurate, they indicate serious human rights violations.
