The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized approximately 5.8 kg of foreign-origin gold valued at Rs. 9 crores from a concealed cavity in a car during an operation in Visakhapatnam on October 8-9, 2026. The operation involved a chase of a vehicle carrying two passengers traveling from Kolkata to Hyderabad. Upon inspection, officers discovered three packets of 24-carat gold hidden beneath the front co-passenger seat, which the occupants admitted had been smuggled into India via the Indo-Bangladesh border.
