Pulsing Signals Uncover Hidden Structure Surrounding Famous Neutron Star

Scientists have identified a unique accretion disk around Centaurus X-3, one of the brightest X-ray pulsars, indicating it is actively consuming material, a phenomenon not commonly observed in similar pulsars. This discovery was reported by the Ministry of Science & Technology on October 21, 2026. The findings will enhance models of the system and contribute to a broader understanding of binary pulsars, which consist of a neutron star and a companion star. Centaurus X-3, located 24,000 light years away, is notable for its intense brightness and its gravitational interaction with a companion star more than ten times the mass of the Sun.
