The Indian Parliamentary Delegation, led by Shri Harivansh, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, participated in the 153rd IPU Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania, on October 8, 2026. During the assembly, the delegation engaged in a debate on an emergency item regarding climate-related disasters in vulnerable regions, which was proposed by Nepal. Dr. Anurag Singh Thakur, a Member of Parliament, supported this item and participated in discussions on future resolutions for the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights. The delegation also continued discussions on enhancing governance and community empowerment through inclusivity.
