DRI seizes over 7.3 million kg of illegal Pakistan-origin rock salt; four arrested

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized over 7.3 million kilograms of Pakistan-origin rock salt and arrested four individuals involved in the illegal importation. This operation, named "Operation Deep Manifest," took place between September 26 and October 11, 2026, and targeted a smuggling network that used fabricated documents to bypass India's import ban on Pakistani goods. The DRI discovered 295 containers, which were falsely routed through Colombo Port, Sri Lanka, and linked to nine importers operating through Mundra and Kandla ports since March 2026. The operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat transnational smuggling and enforce import regulations in India.
