Road Ministry proposes mandatory emergency braking systems for new cars by October 2030

The Road Ministry has proposed that all new car models must include Advanced Emergency Braking Systems (AEBS) starting in October 2030 to reduce road accidents. In a draft notification released this week, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways stated that AEBS will also be required for in-production models from October 2032. AEBS automatically engages the brakes if the driver fails to respond to emergency situations, helping to prevent collisions or lessen their severity. Additionally, the government is implementing revised braking standards and electronic stability control systems for trucks, effective October 1, 2027, to further enhance vehicle safety.
