Satellite-Tagged Amur Falcons Return to Manipur After 23-Country Migration

Two satellite-tagged Amur Falcons, named Apapang and Alang, have returned to Manipur after migrating across 23 countries, completing their tracking journey. They arrived yesterday, 11 days after leaving their breeding grounds in northeastern China, as noted by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav. The falcons, tagged by the Wildlife Institute of India in November 2025, will spend two to three weeks in Tamenglong district to feed and build fat reserves before their next migration to Somalia. Their annual return is highly anticipated by local communities in Manipur, who have contributed to the protection of these migratory birds.
