Research, Development and Innovation Fund Unveils First Cohort of 19 Fund Managers

The Research, Development and Innovation Fund (RDIF) of the Government of India has announced its first cohort of 19 Second Level Fund Managers (SLFMs) as of October 12, 2026. This announcement follows the Empowered Group of Secretaries' approval of 14 Alternative Investment Funds and 5 Focused Research Organisations, committing ₹7,131 crore to the initiative. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2025, the ₹1 lakh crore RDIF aims to transform India into a leading technology provider by fostering high-impact research and development. The initiative addresses financing gaps that have historically limited private sector investment in emerging technologies.
